Shout out to @gotosocial for being a great #Fediverse project and platform - written in Go!

I'm selfhosting a #GoToSocial instance myself, give me a follow there, I'm posting more non-tech stuff over there:

If reading all the PHP stuff is too much, I did a quick podcast yesterday with Ben Harris of @watchtowrcyber explaining what's going on.

-------------

⚠️ An authoritarian state is taking hold in France:

- Ban on protests
- Ultra-violent repression of social movements
- Deployment of the army
- Cover fires during peacetime
- Threats to our freedom of expression through social media control
- There is already proof of manipulation by intelligence services to steer public opinion.

Don't forget: the process has been slow, but we're already there. Remember ChatControl, mass surveillance, widespread controls...

Protect yourself:

Use Tor or serious VPNs (ProtonVPN) and change them regularly
Prioritize Signal / encrypted messaging apps for your communications
Change your DNS to Quad9 to bypass your ISP's future restrictions
If you need a proxy, contact me or search on Mastodon.

Liberty is not a gift, it's acquired at the price of constant vigilance.

Split DNS zones really suck when you have a thousand "privacy enhancing" settings that silently bypass your network assigned resolvers.

Earlier at the #MatrixConf, @andybalaam talks #encryption on Matrix, @JadedBlueEyes updates us on #Continuwuity, #Austria's #healthcare market adopts Matrix with Phillipp Kurtz from Famedly, and much more! Recordings of any talks you missed can be found here: https://conference.matrix.org/schedule/#full-schedule

Oh yes, I forgot an upstream dependency relies on `tensorflow` so every time there is an update to that and I'm creating a new venv I have to wait whilst 0.5GB package is downloaded 🤦
