I think I might be in a slump. Part of that is coming home from my big trip, immediately going on a business trip, then the busy part of the month…but I flew to NYC this morning (one of my favorite cities ever) and I’ve been here all day and I’m going to bed only 9 frames into a roll of HP5. I haven’t even gone through pics from my trip overseas - I have scans I haven’t even inverted from a few weeks before that trip - that’s early to mid September. Maybe I’m just busy! Either way, I’m in The City for another 3 and a half days and the weather should be great - so I hope to find more good snaps.

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

I spent nearly all of October rewriting the internals of film Q (a web app for inverting film negatives online).

The new version features significant image quality improvements:

- Eliminated highlight/shadow clipping,
- More accurate colours,
- And a new colour correction algorithm.

Plus, fun new UI elements with faster processing speeds.

I explain how and why those upgrades work in today's article: https://www.analog.cafe/r/scanning-film-just-got-easier-mxge

Near the end, I also outline what could take it to the next level and ask for your feedback on future developments.

Thank you all for your support. This would not be possible without you!

www.analog.cafeScanning Film Just Got Easierfilm Q (a web app for inverting film negatives online) does things differently from other similar products, so while I personally enjoy using it, I wasn’t sure if it was a good fit for other photographers — but a glance at usage statistics, showing that at least half of you tried it, gave me the push to improve it. The new version 1.1.0 features significant image quality upgrades, fun new UI eleme

Hey #believeinfilm friends,

I got to review a new light meter app that has a false-colour exposure display, fine-tuning features, spot-metering, and a cinema shooting mode (shutter angle, iris, etc.). Can be quite helpful for slide film, ensuring soft lighting, or metering for filming video:

www.analog.cafePocketMeter Pro is a new light meter app with features for cinema and still film photographers. If you’re in the market for an advanced light-metering app, this could be the one. Created by Bill Manning of Studio C-41 & Atlanta Film Co, PocketMeter Pro comes with several features film producers often seek — but other apps lack. Perhaps the most interesting is the false-colour display (third image). #editorial
