CISA review makes the case for eliminating vulnerability classes

CISA urges software makers to eliminate entire vulnerability classes, not just patch individual flaws. The agency highlights that recurring coding errors (like injection attacks) cause most breaches. Solution: adopt Secure by Design principles, automate security processes, and take ownership. Consumers must also demand better security from vendors to drive industry-wide change.

Rapid7Rapid7While performing continuous red teaming exercises through Rapid7’s Vector Command service, Rapid7 discovered three new vulnerabilities in Eptura Archibus. A legacy API endpoint could be exploited to bypass authentication and run various functions without authentication (CVSS: 8.6 High). The most serious functions allow for full database read (CVSS: 8.5 High) and an insecure file upload (CVSS: 9.6

🚨 WPSplinter: 16-Year-Old Broadcom Wi-Fi Vulnerability Enables Router RCE

Security researcher Quentin Kaiser has exposed a flaw in Broadcom’s legacy Wi-Fi SDK that could allow attackers within wireless range to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable routers without knowing the Wi-Fi password or completing WPS enrollment.

The exploit chain involves a buffer overflow in EAP-WPS fragment reassembly, memory disclosure, and potential code execution. Demonstrations on ISP gateways reportedly exposed Wi-Fi credentials and achieved interactive reverse-shell access.

⚠️ Disabling WPS may not mitigate the flaw. Legacy firmware and unsupported eCos-based gateways pose particularly difficult remediation challenges.

Technical breakdown, affected platforms, detection toolkit, and mitigation 👇

#plexfiltration update - and it's been a while, I probably only check the mailboxes once a week these days

I just informed a customer of a SaaS platform (whose security team I'd already reached out too about 6 months ago - and not heard anything from) that the SaaS product had happily started sending deleteduser.com detailed AI transcription notes of all company meetings, financial KPIs, metrics and summaries - including of the leadership team weekly meeting.

I informed them that thanks to the plexfiltration issue, I had passively been provided with their full product roadmap - notes about vendors and suppliers, cash in hand and financial runway information.

Had I been a malicious sausage, I would've been able to use this information in a myriad of ways. Probably the worst example of confidential information I've seen so far.
