For the 32-bit variant of #wmlive, new Debian packages of the LTS kernel version 6.18.58 have been made available at https://wmlive.rumbero.org/repo/pool/main/l/linux-upstream , and the associated meta packages linux-{image,headers}-686 have also been provided at https://wmlive.rumbero.org/repo/pool/main/l/linux-686-meta-pkg .

Since wmlive is a compatible #Debian remix, these kernel packages can probably also be used on other 32-bit Debian/Trixie systems.

The Finite State Automata implementation has 14 of 36 Model 1 opcodes working. Once the Division opcodes are finished, the remaining 20 are (generally) pretty simple.

Really. They don't involve complicated arithmetic. 9 of them use trigger states and register transfers. Some are I/O, and the rest are data transfers.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel. It's not an approaching train.

Excavated today from what I am coming to realise was the rather badly named "to be read" pile. These two books are what pushed me HARD down the path of doing back-end code only and avoiding all front-end work, something that I don't regret at all. My thanks to #AlexHomer and #ChrisUllman for the career guidance!

Photograph of two books, "Instant IE4 Dynamic HTML" and "Instant Netscape Dynamic HTML", on my desk. They have red covers with large white and yellow text. Both claim to be both a programmer's reference and an in-depth guide to that particular book's flavour of horrible. The IE4 version says that it's for IE4 twice, the Netscape edition says Netscape once in the title, and then specifies "NC 4 edition" (Netscape Communicator 4 edition) in a little box which is actually useful information.
