Pacificon 2026 swap meet finds – 2/2
I took a quick walk though mid-morning, scoring some new in the box test leads for $1. From the free piles I scored two other sets of other leads, a Precision (Pacotronics) model SS-10 tube filament checker, and a Foxconn G33M02 motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU & fan (looks to be out of a Dell Inspiron 530 or Vostro 200).
By the time I had packed & loaded up the vendors inside had already or were in the process of packing up. I was able to grab the batteries & charger that was on my list from Wired Communications [https://www.wiredco.com], along with an LCR-T4 Mega428 transistor “DUT” tester. The tactical pouch folks were there as well [https://westerncasecompany.com], so I grabbed two phone pouches for the new phone.
Overall, it was ok – made some spending money, thinned the garage a little, and scored some items on the shopping list.

Tim Cook is very fucking much on board with Larry Ellison's world view (keep the population under tight surveillance). He re-made #apple in Palantir's image and is willing to completely destroy mutual trust and privacy at every level of society – at home, workplaces, you name it.

Even the name for iOS' new feature – Audio Intelligence – suggests a spying function, since that is what govt "intelligence" services do.

A Federal Court of Australia judgment finds Apple contravened the misuse of market power law (s 46) since 6 Nov 2017. From 1 March 2027 (3 May if extended), iPhones with Australian Apple Accounts must allow alternative app stores, sideloading and other payments. Apple says it will seek a stay and appeal to protect "the safe, secure experience". The orders keep a scan and notarization step and exclude worldwide relief.
