Hi! I'm Jim Salter, aka mercenary_sysadmin, aka "the biggest ZFS stan on the planet."
I am *not* Jim Salter, the Associated Press reporter based in Missouri. That's a different guy, and he hides from the Internet.

I heartily endorse this very reasonable take.

Poe's Law Repellant: fuck you, that wasn't sarcasm, I do in fact heartily endorse this very reasonable take

I'm still wondering if the apparently innocent question "when would you use another file system, like btrfs, instead of ZFS?" asked at my All Things Open ZFS Q&A was as innocent as it seemed, or if it was sly, masterfully executed incitement... 🤣

My android email client apparently pushed some sort of update in the middle of the night that changed how and when it decides to make semi-quiet little "bingly-bingly-boop" noises, and I went from "my MUA makes no noise, ever" to getting 1-15 of those in any given minute.

It took a couple of hours to figure out what the fuck was doing it, because notification history claimed no new notifications were being issued.

And this was on the same device I use to lull myself to sleep with podcasts.

A pair of predatory women in cocktail dresses was working the crowd at this tech conference, asking any dude who either looked young and naive OR old and distinctly out of shape "are you single?" and dropping cards. They also made a post on the job board.

I researched their company and added some (accurate) detail that I'm sure they will appreciate me letting their prospects know about before they can hit them with the second phase pitch privately. 😈

Matchmaking scammers are working the crowd at this technical conference. I added their minimum price (which is deliberately difficult to research) to the "posting" they left on this job board: $6,000 MINIMUM to get three "guaranteed dates" in three months.
