#Mastodon web app—trick for getting a large editor for new posts:

<Server URL> + "/publish"

This UI made me LOL so hard (I like it) edit: In case you don't know how to get to this page, it's /publish (e.g. https://mastodon.social/publish). I have been using it for years when writing new posts because the New Post textarea in the left column in Mastodon’s previous design

Mastodon.social website. New post, page. 3-column desktop layout. In the central column, one very tall textarea element that pretty much stretches from the top to the bottom of the entire screen.

The irony is that the bots *need* the good kind of web. Crawling and caching would at least solve the traffic problem. I’m not sure why they don’t do that. Several companies could even share data in this area.

I'm seriously wondering where we are going with this. It's becoming almost impossible to just independently host something without constantly battling waves of bots and/or paying for a lot of wasted bandwidth. At some point, that kind of internet—the only good kind, really—is goi

At some point, that kind of internet—the only good kind, really—is going to just wither away because few people want that kind of bother.
