I tinker, build open source hardware and software, run servers for myself and others. Would love to get paid for this work, but being anti-social is at odds with that.
If you want to see more of these kinds of things in the world, the biggest thing you could do to help is find a way to make these things sustainable. Come up with a way to connect people who want this tech to exist and are willing to pay someone to do the work of making it easy for them.
Note: When the previous instance was shutting down, I lost all my followers when migrating to this account. Now I'm starting all over, on a new

The v2 boards came in and I'm weighing my options on how to stack them.

The main challenge is the LCD. The back of the header pins are going to short out against thr USB-C connector if I'm not careful.

And the components on the back of the screen risk connecting with the header pins connecting the Nice!nano (on the bottom) with the connector PCB (in the middle).

Finally, there's tolerances of all these headers pins & case alignment. Thoughts?

A stack of PCBs with the battery on the bottom and the RTC PCB attached with 90 degree angle headers and a header socket. The risk of shorting the LCD on the USB-C connector is high, but the stacking is at a fixed height. The RTC takes up more space than I'd like, but no desoldering is required. An alternative stacking arrangement puts the battery between the Nice!nano and the PCB. This makes the LCD pins less likely to short out, but introduces larger tolerances in how far apart the PCBs sit from one another.A different angle of the option of having a battery sandwich. This shows the RTC is soldered directly to the main PCB with header pins. This saves space, but it requires desoldering the header socket that comes on the RTC. It's also harder to replace the RTC in the future, should it go bad or an upgrade become available.

Guess my followers aren't going to be migrated with the Mastodon's server migration feature. 593 followers gone. Oh well. Not many people seemed to interact with me anyway, so I guess it's no big loss. C'est la vie.

No error messages.

Eventually I found the announcement that they're shutting down in < 30 days and I managed to get migrated off there. So far about 1% of my followers have been migrated over.

Do you support billionaires?

Are you on Facebook, Instagram, and Meta?

Buy things on Amazon?

Have an account with any Google service?

Use Microsoft Office, Windows, GitHub, or any of their other products?

Shop at Walmart?

These things all benefit billionares. Even if you don't directly pay them. Even if you use a fake name.

It's all of our individual actions that make them rich.

I'm not saying to abandon all these things, just be mindful of your choices.
