Since one of my hobbies is not dying of preventable diseases, I often post about vaccines. My handle is completely unrelated to this! Think VAX as in DEC, not vaccines. It's a misspelled ill-advised ancient Usenet joke, and now I'm stuck with this handle for as long as the Internet lives.

The DoJ thinks Alaska should stop certification in the Senate if the DoJ doesn’t like the result. #giftlink

The premise here is that maybe voters mistakenly picked the independent Dan Sullivan instead of the Republican Dan Sullivan, and this imagined mistake somehow merits a DoJ investigation and denying a state representation.

But: RCV??????????????? Maybe the DoJ doesn’t know that Alaska does ranked choice?????????????????

David Kurtz at Talking Points Memo has an alarming piece about the Trump administration efforts to subvert the midterm elections.

The key part is the administration demand that California not count the ballots that the DoJ claims come from non-citizens. The fed “don’t count” list is sourced from the finest quality DoJ vibes and is not at all bogus.

Greetings, here are the weekly #washingtonstate #kingcounty (that is, #seattle and environs) #COVID #COVID19 #wastewater toots.

A reminder that this King County respiratory disease data comes from Washington State, not the federal government.

The West Point (WSPT) sewage treatment plant's SARS-CoV2 seven-day running average numbers are bouncing around a fairly high range. The last seven day running average calculation was done on 10/13.

WSPT is one of three King County(-ish) sewersheds in this dataset. You can find overviews, individual sewershed results, and a breakdown of variants for the state wastewater surveillance program, along with other metrics like case counts and hospitalizations for Covid-19 and other respiratory illnesses, at https://doh.wa.gov/data-and-statistical-reports/diseases-and-chronic-conditions/communicable-disease-surveillance-data/respiratory-illness-data-dashboard#WasteWater. If you go to the page and click "learn more" in the statewide view tab, you can find out lots of details about how these data are calculated and how to interpret them. The dashboard gets updated every Wednesday (generally). The Department of Health is here on the fediweb, at @WADeptHealth

A screencap of the Washington State Department of Health's Covid wastewater data for the West Point Wastewater Treatment Plant. The trend line of the graph is described in the toot text.

Everything I’ve read suggests that control of the Senate is a tossup, so I decided to focus my efforts into phonebanking in those races.

Today I found myself talking to an enthusiastic Michigan voter who had an absentee ballot, knew that it is too late to mail it in, knew that she was going to take it to an early voting site, knew that early voting started in her area tomorrow, knew which early voting site she was taking it to, and also knew when she was taking it in.

To you, highly informed and organized battleground state voter lady, a 🏆🥇to you. America thanks you for your service.
