Did I spend a day on a bespoke sql migration utility for myself in Gleam? Yes

Could an AI model have done it in 15 minutes by copying other people's work? Yes

Is my own solution full of holes and held together by duct tape? Also yes

Did I enjoy every second of it? Fuck yes!! I'd do it again!

yesterday someone thought it's a good idea to create an account in my project, let an agent fuck around (it was probing for php2shell), then send me an email with a list of "improvements". Just to understand how valuable these points were one problem it flagged was that you need an account to log in...

I thought about sending the guy an email that his agent is trying to hack my stuff, or when he emailed I was thinking of replying how this was a waste of my time (his robot buddy didn't even activate the account so all he saw was a "pay" button). In the end I just blocked the sender but hoo boy, some people really have some nerve, and lack brain cells too. What did he think will come out of this? Couldn't I have done the same (but better) if I were using LLMs?

The only good thing it resulted in is I now ban agentmail.to e-mail addresses

saw a reddit discussion today where developers are upset that an interviewer asked them what's the difference between ipv4 and ipv6

ever since reading that I'm wondering if I'm confused because I know this one and would be similarly upset had they asked another question I'm not so sure about?

Or is it rather the difference of me becoming a programmer because I always liked and tinkered with computers (thus being interested in many things not just programming, but databases, networking, security, sysadmin stuff too), and the baffled people probably chasing one narrow segment of this because of money?
