Dragonflies use motion camouflage while closing in on prey: they appear to stay still relative to the background, predicting and intercepting their prey's path as they loom larger & larger until it is too late.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Getting your news from social media is kinda like "playing telephone," except theres a switchboard operator with REALLY STRONG OPINIONS trying to sell you stuff. Of course, legacy media is pretty much listening to that same operator's podcast or whatever, which is... Something?
As a matter of fact, we wouldn't even know it existed
The reproduction crisis would be sooooo much worse if people thought statistics was fun
De-extinction is kinda cool? I'd probably go to an exhibit of de-extinct...ed stuff? Maybe. At least ones we fully sequenced? Maybe. Idk
The amount of anti-environmental propaganda they'd be used for is scary. Hmm

I've hated / distrusted electronic voting ever since i learned 9 year olds could hack the machines back when i was like 12. The fact that mitt Romney's company owned a bunch, that dude clearly thought he'd hacked Ohio before Obama's first term and freaked out about it in front of everybody, Pete Buttigieg tried stealing the Dem primary, etc are all just icing on the cake. Don't trust McKinsey Macron, either.
Bringing this up in reference to the ongoing obvious election fraud on the behalf of Republicans... Most states without paper trails are red, and there's a reason Republicans didn't want election safety reform & instead just want to disenfranchise folks
Ps: they already use cars' "self-driving" features to take out inconvenient people. Obviously. Like Angela Chao.

Under the Irish Presidency, the Council has joined a deregulation project built around a dangerous idea: that Europe’s AI ambitions require feeding an ever-growing appetite for data, even if that means weakening rights people already have.Smart people need to shame fools again... Getting real tired of TRUMP calling people (almost always women, ESPECIALLY when they're not white) stupid. He's an idiot. Call him an idiot to his face. Cuss him out. His stupid followers just feel vicariously powerful when he does that nonsense. Imagining themselves abusing the people around them like their daddies used to. Hoping they get invited to Epstein island. I bet they'd bring their kids, too. Just like Trump.

I wonder how many Europeans would believe in human-caused climate change if they weren't dependent on oil & gas imports 🤔
America is a net oil exporter with massive refineries, and only about half of us believe humans are responsible for global warming — a number that's remained steady for about a decade. Would we ban/force the sale of media engaging in climate disinformation if our leaders perceived it to be against their interests? We were willing to with TikTok, and that was just because they didn't sufficiently suppress information around the genocide in Gaza. Though I suppose stepping away from Israel would have prevented our war in Iran & the oil supply cuts which MASSIVELY benefit some of our oligarchs...
Do you think EU members would crack down on people spreading climate truths if it considered itself a petrochemical superpower? America tends to regulate the information space relatively indirectly due to the 1st amendment, but they wouldn't have to jump through those hoops.
I just saw a digital license plate 🤡
Why on earth are those legal? What a stupid "innovation." We already have license plate readers: none of the supposed benefits are worth the costs of the risks. People already swap plates on stolen vehicles like c'mon this doesn't do anything valuable, and now your license plate can get hacked / people can just turn them off when they don't want to be identified. Or digitally swap them, which is kinda the same as stealing a plate but you can do it without even getting out of the car.
Why? Ridiculous
