calling all computer nerds.....

i have a old gateway 600yg2 laptop that im trying to get puppy linux onto, but im struggling and this is a little beyond me

ive got the 32bit iso burned onto a dvd-r. the disk drive is compatable and i know it works, as well as the hard drive. its just not reading the disk, even when i select the disk drive in the boot menu

the only thing i can really think of is that i burned the iso wrong, which is possible as im not the most well versed with this

i really want to get this dinky ass laptop working again but i just need some help

im unsure if im using plop correctly, but it needs to boot from the disk drive. ive burned the right(?) iso to it. ive never used plop so im unsure about that

but im also unsure if the usb drives, the disk drive, even the hard drive or even the board could be failing. its such an old laptop and theres too many variables and possible points of failure im not comfortable with my skill level to really work on this. im sure someone could get it to boot correctly, but just not me
