And, just to be fair, Canada as a whole has a pretty horrible immigration history, with many people wanting to or just having immigrated being branded as 'DPs' (dispossessed), since many of them were very poor and didn't speak english, or were not white. This isn't all people in Canada of course, but far too many for my comfort, which the numbers in the above link show clearly.
