Maybe it’s the universe’s apology for charliebrowning me so many times. You may have expended four years of your life on a now useless major, you have been yelled, humiliated, and ostracized, you may be unemployed. But at least you can be entertained by two films that touch on your primary interest and star super hot people.

Was kinda cool to see the pandemic depicted in film although they didn’t lean into it that much. Just a few masks on a few people sometimes. It’s a shame I haven’t seen reality acknowledged like that in other movies. Most films take place in this fake timeless mirror universe that seemed to fork from our own 15 years ago.

One choice I didn’t like were the colour-graded recreations of January 6th. They had these dusty desaturated scene of mostly fit looking guys charging. The choice wraps the riot in gravitas and meaning that I don’t think it deserves. It would have been better to show the real footage of all the idiots livestreaming themselves doing crimes.

Also, maybe just a me thing(?), but I more strongly identify with opposition to things than support for things. I’m a hater. I have so many words to identify the things I hate. But I myself identify with very little. I don’t want to be lumped into any sort of collective because some of the people in the collective will be dumb bad people who will make me look dumb and bad in turn. I used to really like Bernie Sanders. CRINGE! I secretly really like Harry Potter. TRANSPHOBIC! Some people do feel comfortable in collectives and I mostly privately or publicly think they are silly. Like LessWrong rationalists, omnicause leftist activists, all political parties. I seem to just want to be alone in some black tower overseeing and judging the world while contributing nothing.
