We published a new TAG Finding today: Installing Websites Must Be Easy.

After almost two decades of installable websites, we declare installation a core capability of browsers and encourage browser and OS vendors to:

* make the install option obvious, not buried several menus deep
* give all browser engines fair access and launch installed sites in the installing browser
* not gate capabilities behind installation unless necessary

The TAG has published the @w3c Group Note: Self-Review Questionnaire: Societal Impact

https://www.w3.org/TR/societal-impact-questionnaire/

The web should help people and benefit society. That means hard questions for anyone building web technologies to think through: who does a new technology affect, how can it be misused, and what happens when it reaches billions of people?

www.w3.orgSelf-Review Questionnaire: Societal ImpactThe web should be a platform that helps people and provides a net positive social benefit. As we continue to evolve the web platform, we must consider the consequences of our work. This document sets out questions for specification authors, reviewers, and implementors of new web platform technologies to answer as part of a critical assessment of the impact of their work.

The TAG has published the @w3c Group Note: User Agents

https://www.w3.org/TR/user-agents/

It describes what makes software a user agent, e.g., browsers, search engines, voice-driven assistants, and generative AI systems acting on a person's behalf, and the duties owed to the user: protection, honesty, and loyalty.
