I think the mood and environment they set in deserves some praise. I'm touched by stories where jerk protagonists find themselves thrust into being responsible (I also like stories where jerks learn nothing at all but this is not this story). What an environment they paint though where Lee Jung-jae's character is such a piece of shit that NUNS THROW EGGS AT HIM! YOU PISSED OFF NUNS!!!!

The supernatural aspects are probably the least fascinating parts of this character piece. It has the engine of a hard boiled detective thriller but the lead is not a bad ass and makes no pretense at being one

За ее редактирование могут платить тысячу крон в месяц и плюс специальный гонорар за каждую лично Фучиком написанную статью. Он сделал вид, что этого мало. Ему предложили тысячу пятьсот крон. И этого Фучику показалось недостаточно. Тогда повысили ставку до двух тысяч. Но и теперь он не был удовлетворен. Наконец, когда сумма возросла в четыре раза и Юлек почувствовал, что продолжать игру в аукцион было бы слишком рискованно, он сказал:
— Свои убеждения я не продам ни за какие деньги. Писать то, что вы хотите напечатать, я не смогу, а то, что захотел бы написать я, вы никогда не напечатаете.

I still enjoyed it. Mel Brooks just utters a word and I have a pavlovian reaction to be ready to laugh. I didn't catch the Cappola Dracula yet so any extra liberties from that are missing. I think it was very logical for them to swap Jonathan Harker for Renfield to allow for his origin and Peter MacNicol's portrayal is absolutely delightful.
It's not Spaceballs. It's not Men in Tights. It's a little gentler and I still enjoyed it.

I wanted to see more on this. They swerved us good with the format of the mockumentary. I feel there's a strong comic book sense of style to much of the visuals to this but subtle and believable.

Also spiral stair cases without hand rails are a nope forever for me.

I'm wondering how much colorism subtext might have gone over my head. Regardless, wild to see so many scenes made me wonder how much was a nightmare Cade was experiencing vs how much was actually happening to him.
I don't watch football, or honestly any organized sport, but I have listened to the politics about and behind it and how it's odd that salary caps exist on leagues that are majority black and how there's all white owners. Colin Kapernick spoke about how the NFL combine functions eerily similar to slave auctions in which owners and execs have players strip naked and get measured in invasive ways and asked to perform in various functions. The facade of Christianity on the team spread like a veneer over the team and executives was wild to see especially if they truly were worshipping a variation of Baphomet instead.

I also thought of Lou Thesz's philosophy on organized sports are more so entertainment than about athleticism
