Well, my road trip to the crane festival is next week. I’ll be heading up to one of the “redder” parts of the state with a more homogeneous cultural profile. It usually takes a few days longer to count our votes in California, and I don’t think there’s anything in our election that would change the balance of the Senate or House, but it’ll be interesting until everything is settled. I just want to see the cranes. And maybe a Yellow-billed magpie.

Small town bird festivals are one of my favorite things. The San Diego festival is great, and it’s expanding every year, but it’s kinda pricey, and there’s nothing stopping me from going there at any other time of year. The small town festivals have a lot of super nice, and it’s good to help out the local economy. Plus I can put that CCR song on my road trip playlist.
