Here is a thread on climate modelling. 🧵

A climate model is an abstract description of climate using mathematical concepts or computer language.
It is used to simulate climate dynamics and interactions of components and drivers of climate (such as the greenhouse effect, atmosphere, oceans, land surface, ice).

"Climate models apply knowledge in various sciences to process extensive sets of input climate data, executing differential equations among grid elements in a three-dimensional model of Earth's climate system. The models produce simulated climates having an array of climatic and weather elements, such as heatwaves and storms. Each element may be described by several attributes, including intensity, frequency, and impacts. Climate models support adaptation to projected climate change, and enable

Teleconnection in atmospheric science refers to climate anomalies being related to each other at large distances (typically thousands of kilometers).
Teleconnections are recurrent – as similar patterns tend to occur repeatedly.
An emblematic teleconnection is that linking sea-level pressure at Tahiti and Darwin, Australia, which defines the atmospheric component of El Niño.
