Today in the classroom:

I'm still feeling quite tired. Not sure what's going on.

First year chem is doing some modeling of atomic radius and electronegativity to identify patterns on the periodic table.

Web dev is working on their book/movie poster in HTML and CSS to practice box model positioning.

AP Chem is doing flame test labs today to connect what they see to the Bohr model of the atom empirically.

Silex is desktop first. Styles you set on Desktop apply everywhere. Switch to Tablet, Mobile Landscape or Mobile Portrait and each change is wrapped in a max-width media query: 992px, 768px, 480px.

So you only override what breaks, and the rest carries down from Desktop.

The breakpoints page explains this cascade, with a 41-second video. If a step doesn't match your editor, the "Edit this page on GitLab" link is at the bottom.

Today in the classroom:

First year chem is getting some intro notes on the structure of the periodic table. They'll color code and label their copy up.

Web dev is doing a code-along where we position elements on the page with all the different position properties as an interactive example.

AP Chem is starting atomic structure with empirical data. We'll do some notes and prep a lab.

Today in the classroom:

11 hours later, we're already back for another day. No first year chemistry today because of the half day.

Web dev are doing a little quiz. They get a simple HTML template and then have to accumulate 10 points worth of CSS additions. Changes range from simple background or text color changes to applying some box model principles to elements.

AP Chem is finishing test corrections on their stoichiometry test.

Today in the classroom:

We're giving the SAT this morning, so no first year chemistry today.

Web dev students are still working on the box model and manipulating content box sizes with box-sizing, padding, and margin properties.

AP chem took their test yesterday, so we'll go over that.

We also start two days of parent-teacher conferences. They're always good, but these are loooong days.

Today in the classroom:

First year chemistry's test went quite well yesterday - students will be pleased at progress from unit 1. We'll do a little periodic table investigation today to lead into the new unit using ptable.com

Web dev are working with more box model tasks. I provide incomplete code and they modify to fit a brief.

AP chem are taking their first test. It will probably be rough on many who haven't quite taken the class seriously yet.
