I'm in 5 paragraph writing hell right now. My fifth grader and a well formed complete paragraph that was marked down because it wasn't 5 sentences.

This is why kids hate writing.

This is the dark side of being a teacher.

Is there an ethical Duolingo? My daughter is taking French and my memory of French from 7th to 11yh grade is rusty.

After a very busy morning, my brain has kind of deadlocked itself and I'm not sure what I need to do next.

My goal today is to figure out why I can't change the speed of a video element in a training module platform for work. I used to be able to through the JS console, but it's not working anymore.

My guess is that there's an event listener reverting any change, so I'll do some debugging to see if that works. Other than that, I may need to do some searching. The time spent figuring this out will still be less than the time it takes to listen to videos and answer questions.

Today in the classroom:

First year chemistry's test went quite well yesterday - students will be pleased at progress from unit 1. We'll do a little periodic table investigation today to lead into the new unit using ptable.com

Web dev are working with more box model tasks. I provide incomplete code and they modify to fit a brief.

AP chem are taking their first test. It will probably be rough on many who haven't quite taken the class seriously yet.

I found a small display bug in my student skills dashboard and was able to fix it by sorting a little smarter. That felt good to knock out quickly tonight.
