"No one forced Plaintiff to file this lawsuit and to dispute that his speech on January 6 incited the violence that followed at the Capitol."

Heh. BBC's counsel's reply sums it up, nicely.

In opposing Jack Smith sitting for a deposition, Trump's counsel has the weakest argument: Smith wasn't there. LOLOL

Trump has a few choices but all are bad, including voluntarily withdrawing his lawsuit, as it may end up being dismissed with prejudice and resulting in Trump having to owe fees and costs to the BBC. Doubtful he's going to sit for a deposition where his testimony will be used against him in the future by others seeking $ from him.

The reason they want to get rid of paper/mail in voting. I wouldn't be surprised if that had these machines altered on purpose.

If anyone wants to read more about these particular voting machines in Davidson County at Hermitage Library, and used in many other counties/states, look into ES&S's checkered history.

The price increases here are wild, broken down from mid 80s prices $ -> inflation adjusted price $$ -> actual 2026 price $$$. That last price to me is the failed policies and greed price. Deregulated capitalism (what republicans did) does not work.

Morning, all,

Is President Donald Trump a traitor, enacting policies helping President Putin prosecute Russia's war of aggression on Ukraine?

A traitor to the USA, but not to himself; he’s being true to himself, enriching himself, his family and those clutching his coat-tails:

It’s curious Donald Jesus Trump is not demanding Ukraine halt its attacks on Russian data centres.

Perhaps Donald Tantrump doesn’t think he needs them to host FSB bots to influence the US Mid-Term Elections in his favour as, historically, the Russians have been able to launch cyberattacks by building botnets from all those Western PCs whose owners haven’t kept their AV software current.

Or perhaps Don Trumpeone thinks his own teams can easily subvert the US Mid-Terms?

When exactly did the Republicans become the Anti-Democracy not the Anti-Democrats Party?

"With no ideas to run on and no accomplishments beyond “We made everything more expensive!”, Republican midterm election candidates seem to have hatched a plan: Let’s just be the most wretched versions of ourselves and see how things shake out.

Republicans certainly aren’t going to accomplish anything that will help you or me between now and the Nov. 3 elections. So we should expect the loathsomeness to continue at a rapid pace."

The Columbus Dispatch endorses Amy Acton for OH Gov.

"Amy Acton isn't a perfect candidate. That person doesn't exist. She is, however, someone with a vision for a better Ohio and the compassion and determination we need at this critical moment.

Ohio does not need more chaos. It needs balance and a champion who will work. Of the two candidates on the Nov. 3 ballot, Acton best fits that bill.

That's why Amy Acton has our endorsement."

New ad by Dr. Amy Acton.

"Ohioans, we're doing everything right.

But the cost of health care, child care, and energy bills, it's all too much.

As governor, I'll fight for all of us to lower costs, cut taxes, and stop data centers from raising our bills.

Together, let's find more breathing room and let's heal what has divided us.

A new day is dawning in our state and it's time for a change in Ohio."

Trump claimed 17m additional SPR oil would be offered in the latest tranche; it's unclear if he's just restating a volume w/in the current 4th tranche. Between September and October, only 2.9m barrels have been cleared, a dramatic drop from the summer.

The fact that no one wants to "exchange" or "borrow" oil from the SPR implies that they think they won't stay in the black if they do so. At ~25% return premium above the current price of oil, this infers the expectations of oil prices in 2028-2029 at or above $72-80 a barrel.

The SPR release is moot at a ~25% return premium; it can't lower prices. Oil prices are high, not because of a lack of supply, but because of the total premium (risk insurance, freight costs, hazard pay, etc.) of Gulf oil driving up global oil bids.

Everything this administration is doing is the opposite of what is needed to curtail exogenous inflation. This is 100% due to their errors and misjudgments in the #IranWar and the #Economics of #Oil.

#USPol

DOE chart of current SPR supplies, showing current sweet and sour oil in storage, currently at 282.7 mb, down from 283mb last week. Additionally, it shows a chart of the monthly movement of oil from the SPR, indicating a surge of oil drawdowns in May at 39mb, rapidly decreasing to just 2.2mb in September and just .7mb so far in October.

From Lawrence O’Donnel's report -

It is standard protocol for noncombatant family members to be evacuated from a war zone before a planned attack. In trump's war, that was not done.

"They knew something was going on, and they literally left us there as sitting ducks."

The night of the attack was a terrifying experience for spouses and children.

Many of families are now living in limbo ever since their hasty departure from Bahrain, under financial duress.
