My curiosity is getting the better of me. I'm probably going to at least try to give Rust a go.
I can't promise I'll be any good at it, but I'll at least have a go at it...

what does it look like to work in dysfunctional IT? How about retrocomputing or video games?
also offering up some hot takes on programming despite discovering decades ago that being a programmer is best left to others.

The country flags above show which countries in the world I've been to.
NO LONGER yakkoj on Twitter.

I vote the way I vote in part to help out my less-privileged, disadvantaged fellow Americans. It's the only tool I've got that makes a diff; not voting is NOT an option, just like voting GOP is not an option.
Mowing the lawn today, and have my music going through the Worktunes as usual.
Then I realize some of these tracks are telling the same story, which goes something like:
>girl wants break from boy.
>boy pleads and begs girl to stay.
>boy questions girl's decision-making ability: "I hope you know which way to go", that sort of thing.
>Me: Ugh. No damned wonder women didn't want anything to do with me.
Once I see it, I can't un-see it. :o(
I'd love to transition to getting my groceries delivered instead of having to get in the car and go into the city. What I'm doing now isn't sustainable long-term, and for right now, I'm just hoping delivery gets better, because I WILL have to surrender my drivers license, get rid of the car, and stop driving.
(It's fortunately a long way away, but we said that about oil in the 1970s after the embargo, and ended up doing nothing. That WILL NOT be me.)
>"Ruby on Fails"
>Later discover it's controlled by this DHH guy.
Now it makes sense!
And the world gets better, one Tails post at a time.
(now I should play the hack of Sonic 1 that has Tails. He gets to fly in that hack, too! 🦊 🛫 )

Rrrrgh... one of my Casio watches takes a pair of "396" batteries, which I can't find locally. So I have to order these in, and in the meantime, the watch sits in pieces on my work desk :o(
Another day at the "Teams is such a rude piece of shit" factory.
Since I'm being low-key judged in my employment by whether or not I use "AI", I've stooped to using Clod to dig up "answers" to how to get Teams to cut this shit out and honor my sound settings.
I know better than to burn a token by asking it how I can force people to read my status that states "no hello needed" and just ask their question, or how I can stop Teams uselessly interrupting me ;o)
For all my kvetching about docker, dockhand is one of the silver linings in this cloud. It is very good at giving me the visibility I need and want. It's things like this that keep me from running away screaming in frustration and wanting to build an off-grid cabin in the forgotten wilderness.
Guess the only thing saving me here is that I'm not exposing any of this to the internet.
I really hope I'm misunderstanding things and I can patch these things properly. To say I don't feel safe right now is a bit of an understatement.
Wait...
You mean to tell me I might not even be able to patch the vulnerabilities in a given docker container independent of being at the mercy of whoever created the image?
That's some bullshit. Please tell me I've got things not quite right.
I have an "updated" image that has a TON of vulnerabilities because chromium (I get the impression that it's just an electron app masquerading as a docker container), and that container is Debian 12.15 and I apt dist-upgraded it from the shell
rediscovered my 2 MSI Cubi NUC-class machines
These have 16GB DDR3L each and can take a 2.5" SATA SSD in addition to the built-in (SATA) SSD.
Going to try running something useful on these!
