I don't necessarily mind paying for online services if the alternative is surveillance advertising, but in the case of a news site, I don't necessarily want to pay for a subscription either if I just want to read an occasional article. I wish buying single articles were a thing.

I really don't understand why there are so many people who aren't just completely nauseated by obvious AI food slop images? The local restaurants seem proud to have these HR Giger horrors on their menus.
I showed a slop restaurant ad to my sister, a working professional graphic artist of 20 years, and she could only critique the chaotic and cramped page layout; all the AI images themselves went unnoticed by her. It shocked me.
It's really got me wondering if a lot of people fundamentally perceive reality quite differently than the rest of us? Like how in 30 Rock we get to see the world from Kenneth's eyes and everyone appears as muppets? #aislop #slop #fuckAI
There were a couple of programming books I wanted to buy ('Grokking Algorithms' and 'Grokking Data Structures'). Looked at both Apple Books and Kindle and they were $50 each which was too much for me. Then I discovered them for sale directly from the publisher's site for only $30 each *and* that gets you *both* DRM free epub and pdf files.
I'm thinking of posting one star reviews for every local restaurant I see using AI images. #FuckAI

My partner and I got engaged tonight! 🥰
I proposed during the Stardew Valley concert at Red Rocks when they played 'Dance of the Moonlight Jellies' (we were *not* the couple who got engaged on the Jumbotron shortly before us).
I proposed with the Mermaid's pendant. That was her idea (I'm still a Stardew noob and wouldn't have thought of it), but proposing at the concert was my surprise.
It's my girlfriend's favorite Stardew song. I wasn't sure if they were going to play it (there was no program). They didn't play it until very close to the end. (If they didn't play it, my backup plan was to propose tomorrow at the Denver Aquarium's jellyfish exhibit.)
Anyway I'm very excited to marry her. The last five years with her have been the best years of life. 🥹
