the replies to this are IMO the Ur example of the reply person
One can imagine these people in 1980 or so, replying to poll "do you use a word processor" and they all say word processors rot your brain

New Mexico won a $25 billion lawsuit against Meta
of course, meta won't pay a dime for years, what with appeals
but lets say that this Santa Clara lawsuit, or some other lawsuit, wins a 2nd $25B judgement
Meta will just declare bankrutcy and if you think the regular legal system is slow, wait till you see bankruptcy court

Now, regardless of your views on AI, if Meta can raise such a titanic sum of money in Oct of 2026, that tells me that the AI bubble has very much not burst
but I don't actually know anything about AI or corporate finance, I'm just some rando on the internet
I know I am old and cranky, but to me one of the wierd fails of mastodon is that so many assert that AI (LLMs, not ML) simply don't work
I don't know how often an AI will just hallucinate something, but here is an example where the AI summary is excellent and the underlying article from vox is paywalled and this is why Google is destroying what is left of "news"

VoxWe missed what was so effective about Donald Trump’s campaign speechesTrump had a clear economic message centered on jobs and wages. What was Clinton’s?
many times over the last 15 years, I have found a wikipedia article that isn't that good, and then found a website, often for profit, that is better on the same subject
eg compare the not very good wiki with the better one from the for profit
stolen from bluesky
so so true

Now I am pretty sure, when the apocalypse comes, our prayers for help will be answered with condescending laughter and random quotes from the ECMAscript standard. And somebody in ththat feeling when you have a great interaction with a real human here and then you go to their timeline and hte 1st post shows they have a total lack of understanding about US politics
which is a complex way of saying we are all human and we all have flaws
