I've been playing Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and I've enjoyed it more than the original Ritual of the Night.

It's basically a love letter to Castlevania 3 and plays very much like it. It's got a lot of QoL improvements over its ancestor in that it offers ways to tune the difficulty all the way down, but its level design really shines if you try the highest difficulty levels.

In a regular play you get 4 different characters as you progress, with various special abilities that let you chose a path through the levels, and powerups that make your life easier. Since these abilities including flying and sliding in narrow spaces there are plenty of places where the levels are designed around them. 1/2

A character in red-ish colors attacks with his sword. He's standing on a greenish wooden platform and a creature with a lion head and five rotating paws is coming towards him. Lamps can be seen hanging on the background wall.A screenshot of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. A purple character is jumping mid-screen. Above here are three chandeliers. One is shattered and the other two are still standing, but a flock of purple and grey creatures flies through them. Below is a red/black monster. In the background the statue of a she-angel is visible between two columns.

Further on the f... up yesterday.
Assessing Microsoft's current app strategy "pest or cholera" may be a tad brutal, but I maintain that it IS accurate!
Microsoft have caught us right in the middle of two distinct design failures:

  1. Electron overhead. The so-called desktop apps may work and show documents "correctly", but they have sooo much overhead they swallow gigs of RAM, leak memory, and return "Not Responding" for long periods of time.
  2. Cloud-first (read lock-in). "Traditional" real apps held local state and sync'ed in the background. Now it seems that all the telemetry, licensing, and co-authoring stuff is just blocking everything. On top of that, the web-apps are not rendering documents to look like the way the do in the desktop apps - So while they're less "Not Responding", they look like shite.

Anyways... Let's support each others - and the companies around us - in getting off that shit. Will it be perfect? Certainly not, but at least it'll be a fresh start :)

One Persistwise detail that might surprise people: each post gets captured once, the first time it shows up in your feed. Fix a typo later and the archived copy still has the typo lol. A record that keeps changing wouldn't be much of a record though

Well...have the rides done and now I'm just waiting for Man U to start at 10...not sure why with how lousy they've been playing...if they keep this up, they could even be relegated at the end of the season...oh, well...there were quite a few deer out today and most of them were in the tunnel of trees on the 2nd ride...no turkeys at all...Muskegon Lake is down about 2 feet and the rocks and sand bars are visible after the water was normal depth most of the summer...hmmm..good morning!

In different countries and at different times, there have been actresses who seem to embody the same archetype—Sharon Stone, Margarita Terekhova, and others. These are women who possess intelligence, a unique kind of beauty, and a distinct, palpable quality. Their personal lives are beside the point; their true nature always shines through their roles. They are simply fantastic.

Me: Stanford was a fraudster who committed genocide.
Him: The guy the school is named after?
Me: The guy
Him: If that were true the school wouldn't be named after him.
Me: Right. It shouldn't be.
Him: Can't be true. I can't believe you because nobody would use his name.
Me: What if I told you that people like Trump?
Him: I can't believe you. This can't be true. You aren't believable. If Stanford were so bad, he wouldn't be popular.

Torsten Slok, Chief Economist, Apollo:

"AI may be a great calculator, but in business, intelligence is mostly judgment. Judgment depends on context, and the answer varies with which human or which model you ask. Perhaps most importantly, AI does not understand accountability, trust, culture, unwritten rules, ethical trade-offs or fairness, all of which shape reputational risk and ultimately drive revenue growth and profit margins."
