It may not be as obvious, but just like Earth, Mars has seasons. And every day of every summer, an 1,800 kilometer long thin white cloud appears to the west of Arsia Mons, a 20 kilometer high extinct shield volcano. At least for a few hours, before it dissipates until it reappears the next morning. Scientists have known about this feature, which they call the Arsia Mons Elongated Cloud (AMEC), for decades, but planetary scientists have been unable to explain it using traditional atmospheric models.
But a new paper, published in Nature Geoscience by a research team led by Dr. Jorge Hernández-Bernal of the Sorbonne, suggests that the cloud could be the first documented real-world example of a cloud flash-freezing out of thin air.

the system I designed works across languages, and I’ve implemented it across languages, and one day I should write it up as a spec and publish an implementation
but there’s really not much to doing better than PHP. you want:
- structural templating
- the ability to drive the templating engine as either a static page compiler or as a server, with a nice API to choose which one a page ends up as
- static output that a reverse proxy can serve as a sensible path, with a fallback to the server for anything that’s not static
- extremely optionally, support for one of the lightweight partial render libraries so that clients with JavaScript get a speedup (and clients without JavaScript just get a regular site, magic!) and no more JavaScript than that
Russians will be able to officially drive stolen cars from unfriendly countries in Russia. This follows from the decision of the Supreme Court of Russia. He supported the car owner from St. Petersburg in a dispute with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Earlier, the internal affairs authorities refused to register the car, which was brought from Canada, as it was on the international wanted list.
The judges ordered the police to lift the ban. The Civil Affairs Board of the Supreme Court explained the decision by the need to protect the legitimate interests of Russian citizens who own cars that are wanted on the initiative of unfriendly countries.
