I thought Block laying off 40% of its workforce in one go because of AI productivity gains was crazy.
But watching Microsoft, eBay and others lay off thousands of employees multiple times a year makes me wonder if Block had the better approach.
At least the people who remain aren’t constantly waiting for the next round.
