It is about 8:18 when I see John Gallagher arrive, take some backside pictures of me with my signs from a distance, then move up the road to get my face & message. I keep singing, eventually making a video at 8:24. John then drapes me with microphones and records another few minutes of my practice as part of his long-running documentation project. And then we're done.

We talk politics as we pack up; both of us are cautiously optimistic, but both of us have been burned before, so a certain skittishness seems to be the shared emotional default. And who can blame us? I've felt at considerable loose ends without postcards to do, but I'll be phone-banking tonight and canvassing in Maine tomorrow. All gas, no brakes.
