If you can tolerate the interviewee's uptalking (🙄), this is an informative discussion of California's trial of (finally) putting solar panels atop open canals. California and Arizona should be doing this as quickly as they can to reduce evaporation and increase power generation. I've flown extensively over both states at low level and have seen hundreds of miles of canals there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89uDjx32BQY&feature=youtu.be

Also, I can't believe that uptalking is still a thing. It's mostly women who do it, and I'm sorry, but it makes them sound like idiots. (Did you ever see the Valley Girl movie?) I sure wish they would listen to themselves and try to fix the problem. This woman uptalked almost every single sentence. It drives me insane.

I once complained to NPR about one of their on-air personalities downtalking. She did change! She sounds so much better now.
Parking lots is a no-brainer, especially in AZ where everyone wants to park in the shade. Couple the panels with a system for charging vehicles off the power generated and the shade structure would probably pay for itself pretty quickly.
