Do you love #CoMaps? Do you wish for better #UX for the route planning? I tried to make a proposal for making the additive approach for route building less of a PITA. Please bring in your 🧠 🗾

Codeberg.orgRoute planning: prepend/append points instead of changing start/end### What problem would this feature help solve? My most common use case for planning a route is for running or biking. I roughly know where I want to start, but at that point I don't know or don't care where I'll finish. While planning, I might find out that the route is too long or has too much...

I only use #LibreOffice occasionally. Today my use case was text redaction. I have complained about the heavily outdated #UI in the past. Today it was another case of tragic #UX. Text redaction opened some other full size window that offered like 50 elements to redact text?! So I just used one rectangle, exported to PDF and I was able to copy text from below the black rectangle... I mean, if you do something, do it properly. The whole LibreOffice is unfortunately stuck in the early 2000s.

Hmm, so I used to be a serious Evernote user, then that went to crap, and I moved everything to Apple Notes - that was pretty good, but having a Linux desktop makes that unuseable (the web interface to notes is terrible).

I went in on Joplin, and for the most part it's pretty good. Sync, opensource, no enshittification.

But the native Linux app is... not good. I am working hard not to automatically check out the source tree and go "CLAUDE MAKE THIS BETTER"

Nielsen Norman GroupAI in UX: Work Is Faster, But Practitioners Have Mixed FeelingsAI saves UX practitioners time on nearly every task, yet most feel lukewarm about it: mandates, unreliable output, and inflated expectations eat the gains.

It says quite something about Atlassian's user experience when it is quicker to task to Rovo fix a single misformated URL to be a proper clickable URL than to do it yourself manually.

But it's not fun when even Rovo also messes it up on its first attempt. But perhaps it's not entirely Rovo's fault ... but how horrible Confluence really is?

The more I have to do stuff in Atlassian products, the more I dislike it. I thought it was not possible to dislike (hate?) the Atlassian so much I do. But Atlassian proves me wrong time after time.

Some thoughts and experiences on desktop environments (DE). I wonder what's a more recent take on the same I mention below:

#Xfce is great for a point-and-click experience. Some 10 years ago Xfce and #Lxde used to be head-to-head for being the most leight weight. I hear Xfce has become quite the resource hog in recent years. Nowadays #Mate seems to be a better fit for a light-weight point-and-click U

I used to daily drive Lxde for a couple of years around the mid 2010s. For a desktop environment offering the same UX, I found it too dependent on tinkering with config files.
