I'm not sure whether something similar could work in France, or whether there's still enough time in Spain, but one interesting aspect of Lula's victory in Brazil was a WhatsApp channel led by congressman André Janones that grew to more than 10 million followers in just three weeks.
The channel gave supporters concrete tasks, encouraged them to take to the streets, and, perhaps most importantly, kept morale high by reinforcing the belief that victory was still possible.
The goal was to mobilize people to engage with undecided voters, as well as those who had abstained or cast blank or invalid ballots in the first round.
I think it's an interesting example of how online mobilization can translate into real-world political action, rather than simply generating likes and shares.
It also illustrates how political movements can become less dependent on Big Tech's algorithms, even while using one of their platforms.

ComputerworldTechnology has changed. So should the conversation.Technology has changed, and so has my perspective on covering it. After more than 20 years of talking about how technology can improve our lives, I think it's time to ask tougher questions about the companies building it, the promises they're making, and what it all means for the rest of us.
Here's why I'm changing the focus and format of Today in Tech, and why I want you to be part of the conver

Its description was as follows:
"Data collection has become something that is hard to avoid in our modern societies. From telemetry to sensible personal data, many companies and even state actors rely on it for carrying out their operations. But is it really an issue? After all, I have nothing to hide.
What if I tell you that women were persecuted in the USA because they played to Candy Crush or used Tinder, and that their location data were sold to law enforcement which now criminalises people going to abortion clinics in some states? Or that it isn’t that difficult to figure out the real identity of spies with publicly sold data for little money? And when the data isn’t already available, state actors don’t hesitate to hack their own population, including in democratic countries like France and Spain.
Data collection has tangible impacts on our societies and democracies. Whether it’s for making business profits or controlling its own population while weakening adversary countries, the goal is the same: control. And with the current AI trend, data collection is reaching unprecedented highs.
So, what can we do about it in 2026? Thankfully, many technical and legal solutions exist, and we all have a role to play in it. Whether you are an entrepreneur, someone involved into the creation of a software, or a simple user, your choices can have a positive impact."

Minęło pół roku, odkąd 20 kwietnia odinstalowałem Facebooka, a chwilę później Messengera.

On Wednesday, EU Member States approved a change to the GDPR that would put the profit-making interests of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta and SpaceX over European's fundamental right to data protection. According to the approved text, processing personal data “in the context of AI” should automatically be lawful. In particular, Big Tech would be able to use all personal data collected over the past decades with virtually no restrictions, as long as this happens “in the context” of AI. Schrems: “Under the agreed text, the profits of AI companies would typically trump European’s fundamental right to privacy. This is nothing but a digital expropriation of Europeans.”

The best what to describe what Anthropic and OpenAI are doing in this regard is brute force.
OpenAI "has strategically poached much of the field’s top young talent, arming them with lavish resources to bag the biggest mathematical game they can. They unveil their papers alongside carefully-worded press releases, substituting the impersonal, monolithic byline “OpenAI” for the traditional list of human contributors. They’ve become notorious for disregarding academic norms, and their lead scientist Sébastien Bubeck has now had to apologize repeatedly after these aggressive rollouts sparked furious backlash."

My dad won't share a volume we are collaborating on over #syncthing because it is "one more thing" and I get it.
I see it as #BigTech burnout. Attention monopolized and mined dry by the necessities too many of us are locked into.
Makes me think, if "one more thing" could be the only one thing someone needed to get #digitalSovereignty, what could that look like?
I have my ideas, but I'll leave it as an exercise for your magnificent imagination.

How did big tech jump the shark to the point that when I look at the details of the new update for the phone, the update is features I would never want? I don’t want to allow the update. I need to know how to turn off all the crap that gets downloaded when I’m forced to do the update. Ugh! How did we get to this tech hell? #ai #bigtech
