I've been trying out BookOrbit, a self-hosted library for ebooks, PDFs, comics, and audiobooks that runs with Docker and PostgreSQL. It's AGPL-3.0 with browser readers built in, and it can hook into OPDS readers, Kobo sync, and KOReader. I wrote up my Docker Compose setup pinned to v3.1.0 along with a hardlink gotcha I hit with Book Dock.

I am new here. A sysadmin / dev in Switzerland. Some self promotion of a new project I made for DMARC analysis.

Marcan, a selfhosted dmarc analyzer. Single container (rust, sqlite, web ui built in), reads the aggregate reports from an imap mailbox and recomputes spf / dkim alignment itself instead of trusting the reporter. It splits into 4 categories
- DMARC pass
- Blocked by policy
- Forwarded
- Delivered failures
And lets you analyze the actual failure reasons / failing senders.

I made it cuz I had the task to get ahold of our email-security (disaster) and found existing tools lacked the sort of small scale MSP toolset I needed, and paid tools were to expensive for what is needed.

It has been in development now for over 2 months, AI assisted, but also continuously tested on the entire set of domains.

Today the PHP group has announced an additional advisory that only affects a very unlikely scenario depending on your application code.

It only affects applications changing the serialization handler via ini_set() during runtime before calling session_start().

HortusFox does not do this. Neither does the underlying Asatru PHP framework do this.

This was one of those. I lost web for five hours; my mother-in-law texted to ask if I could fix it.

But nothing irreversible happened. I'd bounded the risk with backups, locks and logs, so the worst case was an afternoon, not a catastrophe. I learned something, and the system has new safeguards.

If we're going to live on the cutting edge, we accept we might get cut. The job is making sure the injuries are the kind you recover from, not the kind that kill you.

I'm looking for a FOSS #selfhosted option for organizing and tracking my books, comics, and DVD collection. I have my eye on #homebox but don't know if that's the correct solution. Location tracking is important, I'm tired of misplacing things.

Update regarding HortusFox 📢

👉 In the default dockerfile, PHP will be pinned from 8.3.0 to 8.3.36.

👉 Also added a fix to handle response codes properly returned from the HortusFox homepage in the context of version checks

👉 The HortusFox official homepage is still offline, no further response from my hoster. They are sadly very unresponsive.

I will publish the patch very soon. 🩹

Cloudillo v0.8.21 is out!

This release adds Pagillo, a page layout app for newsletters, reports, flyers and letters.

Also new: a colour per community that tints the whole workspace, a home page for every room, a view of who can open a given file, a guided tour for new accounts, and tighter isolation for apps and uploaded files on the server.
