I was just thinking something along these lines.

Heartbroken to share that Walter Koenig, best known to millions of fans as Ensign Pavel Chekov on the original Star Trek series and movies. He has passed away at the age of 90 from natural causes.
Beyond bringing charm and unforgettable energy to the Enterprise bridge, Koenig had an incredible career spanning iconic roles like Alfred Bester on Babylon 5, as well as being a writer and dedicated mentor to many.
Thank you for boldly going where few have gone before. 🖖

Another #Chekov moment from "The Way to Eden." He explains to Irina that he & Spock are using the ship's computers to look for Eden.
Her take is interesting in 2026.
IRINA: Do you know all these things?
CHEKOV: What I do not know I find out from the computer banks. If, if I knew nothing at all, I could navigate the ship simply by studying what is stored in there. They contain the sum of all human knowledge. They solve our problems of navigation. Of control. Of life support.
IRINA: They tell you what to do, and you do what they tell you.
CHEKOV: No. We use our own judgment also.
IRINA: I could never obey a computer.
I know some people here are allergic to Bluesky, but JMS (the creator of Babylon 5) wrote a moving tribute upon the passing of Walter Koenig.

We live toot #StarTrek episodes playing on the H&I network, using the hashtag #AllStarTrek. If you don’t get the H&I station, you can also stream or contact an Orion trader. Follow Capt Ayako( @MirrorAyako ) #AllStarTrek and @startrek for updates and all things Trek!
*I encourage everyone interested to particularly follow the Captain, and the tag #AllStarTrek I think it's inherently more reliable than external groups. Hashtags are Mastodon's warp drive. Use them!

He was great in Star Trek, but for me in later years he was Bester in Babylon 5, the villain you loved to hate, and he did it oh so well. Thanks for the memories.
VarietyWalter Koenig, Chekov on Original ‘Star Trek,’ Dies at 90Walter Koenig, who memorably played Chekov in the original "Star Trek" series and seven "Star Trek" feature films, died Sunday in Los Angeles.
The death of Walter Koenig is just another reminder of how much we need utopian fiction, at least for me.
Remember, Walter's character Chekov served as a human symbol of optimism for the future, that humanity would get past petty differences (the cold war) and finally unite as one people.
He will be missed.
One of the best scenes of the franchise.
“It was inwented by a little old lady in Leningrad.”

Hear me out: Starfleet Olympics.
The various ships have to fling their saucer sections as far as possible to score points.
If the engineers do their job right, and time it precisely, you can really fling that fucker a couple star systems away.
