'All 30 universities have fully mitigated identified relationships with foreign entities of concern included on the most recent NDAA Section 1286 list, published in July 2026. Overall, the audits resulted in more than 80 termination-related actions across the 30 universities. These actions included the termination of relationships with entities on the NDAA Section 1286 list, as well as precautionary terminations involving entities not specifically identified on the list'.

Will you sign the petition calling for a permanent, stronger tax on polluters that protects households and funds renewable energy? https://act.350.org/s/3264079.SiGPb8

act.350.orgMake Polluters PayMajor oil and gas companies – like Shell and BP – are making sickeningly high profits. The rising price of oil that’s making them richer is driving a major cost-of-living crisis. But it doesn’t have to be this way. 6 in 10 people support increasing taxes on oil and gas companies, and the UK Chancellor is considering this in the Autumn budget. He needs to fill a £35 billion gap, and we need to conv

Epped the apothecary eyed the customer warily. The man standing across the counter was tall and thin, clad in expensive, mostly black clothes, and bore a striking expression on his face, a mixture of impatience, contempt, and anger.

"I told you what they're for," the man growled, tapping the list on the counter pointedly with each word. "Irhan's cleansing."

"Yes, sure." Epped answered apologetically. "But you see, with the reagents you bought in Thorma and Ulhaen last month, you have everything for a binding." He gulped. "And that's highly illegal." His eyes shot to the man's companion for a second. A pretty young woman wandering the aisles of his shop, idly browsing the wares.

The man's mouth began to twitch, and his teeth ground as he stared directly into Epped's eyes, who felt relief that he had just renewed the magebane sigils around the shop.

"Relax." A friendly, soft voice broke the tension, and the woman put a hand on the man's arm. "I apologize for my husband; we've had a long day." the woman smiled at Epped. "See, we travel the continent, offering our help with magicks," she pushed the man aside, taking his spot in front of Epped. "And for that we need all kinds of reagents in all kinds of places." she pushed the list towards Epped.

"I promise that this one" she playfully patted the grim man's arm and smiled, "will not bind me to be his eternal slave."

Epped sighed and halfheartedly returned her smile. "Allright, alright."

When the couple had left, he stared at the door for a while, feeling uneasy.

The man helped the woman onto her horse.

"Husband, eh?" he grimaced.

The woman grinned. "We'll see." She patted the pouch with reagents. "You'll do whatever I want."

antisemitism progrom Show content

I was curious about the development and evolution of antisemitism in the Middle East and learned about the Farhud, a pogrom against the Jewish community of Baghdad (Iraq). I wasn't aware of the Nazi-sympathizing nationalists who ruled Iraq at that time, how they were overthrown by the British (mainly to maintain access to oil), and how the British refusal to enter Baghdad after its surrender led to riots and the murder of Jewish community members:

[…] killing helpless Jews, including women and children, was an unprecedented phenomenon that contradicted Muslim law. In this situation, antisemitic ideology, derived in part from Nazi propaganda, helped to legitimize murdering Jews in Iraq.

https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/the-farhud

As if middle east hasn't always been pregnant with religious tensions, the Nazis and the Brits had to push the limits as well.

🚨🇺🇸 Railway says breach potentially exposed secrets in around 100,000 workspaces

Cloud development platform Railway says an attacker gained access to internal systems and potentially exposed encrypted environment variables belonging to up to 1.85% of its workspaces, or roughly 100,000.
⠀
Some variables were decrypted using compromised credentials. These may have contained API keys, database credentials, private registry credentials and other sensitive information.

Railway believes the attacker was searching for AI provider API keys to conduct model distillation attacks.
⠀
The attack occurred between October 20 and October 22. Railway temporarily stopped new builds and deployments while responding, although existing customer applications remained online.

Railway says individual user accounts were not accessed, but it has not ruled out possible access to source code while its investigation continues.
⠀
All customers who stored credentials on Railway before October 21 should rotate them and review connected services for suspicious activity.

Railway has also invalidated access tokens, rotated internal credentials and worked with providers including GitHub, GitLab, OpenAI, Anthropic and Stripe to revoke potentially exposed keys.

I stopped using #PHP something like 11 years ago. Still are surprised to see how proliferated it still is.

One thing I noticed with most websites I used back then was the overuse of dynamic server features. Most websites were used to be static hosts of content and the bit of flexibility could have been pre-computed.

Oe reason I think PHP became successful was tracking. We were working on some customer API, and they wanted to have the different flows of users in the App tracked. Guess what's perfect for this?

Static websites can't track very well, but when you generate your website with PHP it's just a matter of setting a tracking cookie. Facebook made good use of this.

Teletext Recovery Editor has had quite the update. You can now fix broken Level 2 and above pages. For example, in this one, in row 10, the Level 1 colours are still shown. This is because a Level 2 triplet is damaged and Hamming. correction can't repair it. (1/x)
